Late August in Cape Breton is a bit of a tease. The days are still warm, but the wind picks up, the rain gets heavier, and September is usually the busiest stretch of the Atlantic hurricane season. If you've lived here long enough, you know a storm can knock out power and turn the drive to Sydney into a slow, soggy crawl.

The good news: getting your Hyundai ready for fall storm season doesn't take much. Here's what actually matters.

1. Wipers and Washer Fluid

Summer sun bakes wiper blades. By now, yours are probably streaking. If you're seeing smears or hearing chatter, replace them before the first big rain — not during it. 2. Test the Battery

Heat is harder on a battery than cold, but you don't find out until the temperature drops. A battery that's three years or older is worth testing now. A quick check at our battery and belts department beats a dead start in a driveway full of storm debris.

3. Check Your Tires and Tread
